Zahra pointed to the image closest to her. “Who are all these people building the temples?” she asked. “They look so poor and exhausted.”
Yasser looked at the worn-out men closely. They were working in the midday heat, with the blazing sun drawn low above their heads. Officers in gold
and crimson robes threatened them with whips as they carried heavy boulders and chiselled into the rock. Even though it was just an image, the fear in
their posture was evident. These men were truly oppressed.
“They are the Bani Israel,” replied Thu’baan. “The descendants of Prophet Yaqub. They came to Egypt at the time of Prophet Yusuf, and over the
years were enslaved by the evil king Firawn. He used them as slaves to build his temples and treated them very poorly.
Yasser frowned. He could feel the heat of anger rise in his body. The injustice of what had been done was unbearable. “Where is Firawn?” he asked,
inspecting the pyramid walls.
“This looks like a palace!” Zahra said, pulling Yasser towards her and pointing to another image.
The building in this drawing had high stone walls embellished with paintings and encrusted with jewels.
“Look through that window,” Thu’baan instructed.
Yasser and Zahra leaned in to get a closer look at the scene. Inside were two men who looked like brothers. They were dressed in simple clothes; each
wore a long shirt, worn-out robes and sandals. One of them was holding what looked like a walking stick.

Some snakes can’t see well and use other senses to find prey. They have openings called pit holes in front of their eyes which can sense heat given off by warm-blooded prey.
Snakes flick their long, tongues to pick up chemical molecules from the air. The tongue carries the smelly molecules back to the roof of the snake’s mouth where they’re analysed!
Snakes don’t have ears to hear sound waves in the air. Instead, bones in their lower jaw pick up vibrations in the ground or water.
