Lady Zainab bravely gave a speech in the court of Yazid. She did this at a time when women were not welcome in public gatherings and when she had lost so many members of her family. She spoke directly to the people who had caused her so much grief and pain. Lady Zainab had no notes to refer to, or any time to plan what she was going to say. But the speech she gave was so insightful that it exposed the truth to the whole gathering and awakened many people to the true situation.
She was so eloquent that the audience was reminded of her father Imam Ali (as)! Her speech was so full of knowledge and verses of the Qur’an which showed her true understanding of Allah’s Word and why she was called Aqeela (which means clever)
